Student Insight – Participation in the Bilateral Exchange Programme

My name is Wang Jiahui, I am a bachelor degree student majoring in International Relations at the Faculty of Social Sciences. I went to Hong Kong Baptist University in China Hong Kong for a semester exchange from September to December in 2025.

Motivation to choose Hong Kong Baptist University

Every time I think of the exchange period at Hong Kong Baptist University, it always makes me feel extremely precious and wonderful. The reason why I chose Hong Kong Baptist University as my exchange school is that I am from China mainland, so the language and culture of China Hong Kong are very familiar and suitable to me. Moreover, the highly developed education system in Hong Kong has greatly attracted me. I also hope to take this opportunity to enhance my learning skills and make more friends from all over the world.

University Experience and Support for Internationals

My study and life experience at Hong Kong Baptist University was also very impressive. The teachers here come from all over the world, although the majority are local teachers from Hong Kong, there are also teachers from the UK and Canada，etc. They have a strong international educational perspective and the teachers are all very helpful. The Hong Kong Baptist University has established a very sound system for promoting students' development and assisting them in their daily studies and lives. Moreover, the university's care for students is extremely friendly. The Hong Kong Baptist University warmly welcomes exchange students. At the beginning of the semester, they will hold a separate orientation ceremony for the exchange students. The president will personally host a welcome dinner for us. I remember that on that day, every exchange student was very happy. The school will also organize exchange students to visit Hong Kong together and give us many very cute small gifts. This really made us feel very warm-hearted.

Cultural Exchange and International Friendships

Through this exchange, I not only broadened my perspective on academic exchanges and got to know many outstanding professors, but also established an international circle of friends. We can all share more opportunities and platforms with each other in the future. I think this is truly very meaningful. The exchange students here come from all over the world. Everyone can exchange experiences and learn about each other's school life. We can also study and conduct research together here. During our breaks, we can explore Hong Kong together and imagine the future. It's truly wonderful.

Campus Life and Accommodation

Regarding living and accommodation, Hong Kong Baptist University provides dormitories for each exchange student, and there will be dedicated guides to assist us in adapting to the campus life there. The school dormitory also holds regular activities to facilitate communication among students and enhance friendships. This is truly a wonderful thing.

Innovative Teaching and Learning

Finally, what impressed me the most was the highly advanced educational technology at Hong Kong Baptist University. In the classroom, the professors would combine advanced network technology with teaching methods to enable every student to participate in the process of thinking, and this led to a great learning experience for the students. This was the most astonishing thing for me.

Final Reflection

This is my personal reflection on the exchange experience. I am grateful to the school for offering me this valuable exchange opportunity. I also hope that more students can participate in the exchange program and go to Hong Kong Baptist University.
